Cost-Benefit Analysis of Sesame Production under Improved and Traditional/ Farmer’s Practice/ in Kafta-humera, Tigray Region, Ethiopia

This study aimed to investigate the cost-benefit of sesame production per hectare under improved and (traditional production) farmer's practice. The primary data were collected from farmers who cultivate both traditional (plot with agronomic technologies on one side practice other side) selected randomly participants households cluster-based large scale demonstration during 2019 in kafta-humera district, Western Zone Tigray, Ethiopia. found that able generate an average gross income Ethiopian Birr (ETB) 28997 (ha) production, whereas, ETB 19215.21 ha their practice, respectively. cost cultivation for was 11857.89 9259.63 Therefore, net profit 17139.69 9955.58 implied could earn additional 7184.11 by practicing recommended technologies. shows although system higher than traditional/farmers costs also recorded /farmers as spend a lot money especially weeding harvesting. Hence, government private sectors should give more emphasis introduce mechanized row planter, captivators, combined harvester machines reduce labor when is high.
